Description

Venus is the hottest planet in the solar system despite the fact that Mercury is closer to the sun. This is because Mercury barely has an atmosphere, while Venus is shrouded in a thick layer of CO2 that traps heat and creates a runaway greenhouse effect. As a result the surface temperature on Venus is over 460 degrees Celsius, which is hot enough to melt lead. #science #astronomy #venus #solarsystem #physics
